What is a Sacrament?
Sacraments are very important to the life of the Church. They are a means of grace. John Wesley said,
“By ‘means of grace’ I understand outward signs, words, or actions, ordained of God, and appointed for this end, to be the ordinary channels whereby he might convey to men, preventing, justifying, or sanctifying grace”

This means a sacrament is an outward action that represents God’s giving His grace on the inside. They are God’s channels for supplying His grace to human beings

We are sad to announce that on September 26, 2021 we had to say goodbye to Lester Erwin Whitaker of Foley, Alabama, born in Louisburg, Kansas. He was predeceased by : his parents, Riley Dean and Frieda Whitaker; and his children, Kevin Daniel, Michael Eugene, Gayla Sue and Patricia Lynn. He is survived by : his wife Betty; his children, Shirley, Janet (David) and Larry (Janie); and his sister Dorothy. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. John Wesley’s warning against Imputed Righteousness
“Do we read it [this question] in the Bible? Either in the Old Testament or the New? I doubt; it is an unscriptural, awkward phrase, which has no determinate meaning. If you mean by that odd, uncouth question: ‘In whose righteousness are you to stand at the last day,’- for whose sake, or by whose merit do you expect to enter into the glory of God? I answer, without the least hesitation, for the sake of Jesus Christ, the righteous. It is through his merits alone that all believers are saved; that is, justified, saved from the guilt, sanctified, saved from the nature of sin, and glorified, taken into heaven… It may be worth our while, to spend a few more words on this important point. Holy Communion -- Dr. Ken Moore
According to John Wesley, “the term Holy Communion invites us to focus on the self-giving of the Holy God, which makes the sacrament an occasion of grace, and on the holiness of our communion with God and one another.”11

William Norman Hust (Bill)
was born October 15, 1929 to W.B. and Georgia (Elkins) Hust in Shelby county Tennessee. He was a graduate of Donaldson High School in Donaldson TN, Middle Tennessee State College in Murfreesboro, TN , Scarritt College in Nashville, TN and Chandler School of theology of Emory University in Atlanta, Goergia. He was also a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.
Married to the former Judith Ann Porter for 62 years and together they had three children—Glenda Hust McNew (Jim), David William Hust (Laura Jo) and Sharon Hust Belew (Ray).
Seven grandchildren—Sarah Elizabeth McNew Schimming, Robert James McNew, William Jackson Hust, Joseph Rowland Hust, Leah Elizabeth Ann Hust, Rayburn Osten Belew Jr., Rebecca Noelle Belew.
Three great grandchildren---Michael Brian Schimming III, Liam David Gamsky Hust, Charlotte Grace Schimming.
He was a retired United Methodist minister of the Alabama West Florida Conference having served churches for 15 years. (Cottage Hill 1978----Marion Jct. 1981—Hurtsboro 1985—Georgiana 1989.
He retired in 1993. Prior to serving churches he worked with the Board of Missions of the Methodist Church at Yuma MethodistIndian Mission (Arizona)---the Methodist Mountain Missions (Kentucky)---and Mobile County Rural Center (Alabama). He worked as Dairy Herd Tester in Baldwin County and also Manpower Training in that county. He attended Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Bon Secour where he was honored with the status of Pastor Emeritus.
In lieu of flowers, Bill’s family suggests donations may be made in his memory to Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church, PO Box 88, Bon Secour, AL 36511; Blue Lake Camp, Oakwood Lane, Andalusia, AL 36420; Lake Junaluska Assembly, 91 North Lakeshore Drive, Lake Junaluska, NC 28745; or the charity of your choice.
